I first went ot antarctica in 1920, 79yrs ago. That does not seem that long compared to some other explporers stories, but if you had been there you would notice the change in transport and technology over the Antarctic matter. When I 1st went it took weeks by ships and days to try and crack through the ice into the centre area. Now days it takes a day or so to get into the inner areas and the rest is a short helicopter ride from the ship to the bases. -Charlse Dix (Former USA Antarctic explorer) | ||||||||||||||||
